The replacement volume is a manufacturer's benchmark. Heavier water may require early replacement; it does not correspond to a guaranteed number of years.

💧 A flow rate linked to your fountain

Water passes through the elements under the effect of gravity. The flow rate depends in particular on the height of the water in the tank and the priming.

For example, the manufacturer announces up to 13.3 L/h with 2 Black Berkey® in a Big Berkey®, full upper chamber. The flow rate decreases as the level drops.

🗓️ Track the filtered volume

Note the date of commissioning and estimate the volume used from your fills. Schedule replacement according to the benchmark of 22 700 L per pair, or sooner depending on the water treated.

Cleaning can improve flow reduced by clogging. It does not reset the volume already filtered.

🔎 Tests to read substance by substance

The manufacturer publishes results from independent laboratories relating to numerous contaminants, including certain heavy metals, pesticides, volatile organic compounds and perfluorinated compounds. Performance depends on the contaminant and test conditions.

References to NSF/ANSI protocols in these reports describe the tests performed. They should not be presented as NSF certification of the product. See detailed results in the documentation below.

🛠️ Correct actions during installation

  • Prepare: wash your hands and clean the tanks and the tap.
  • Prime: use cold water and the method in the instructions to expel the air contained in each element.
  • Install: place the gasket on the inside of the upper tank and tighten the nut by hand, without forcing. Close unused slots with the plugs suitable for your system.
  • Maintenance: if necessary, clean the exterior surface under cold water with the buffer provided in the instructions, then prime again. Protect wet filters from freezing.

🟣 The dye is used to check the assembly

The Black Berkey® instructions present the red dye test as a check of assembly and internal leaks, particularly at the joints and plugs. Carry it out with the appropriate dye and according to the manufacturer's protocol, removing the PF-2™ before the test.

Water that has become colorless again does not measure the elimination of all contaminants: this check does not replace filter performance analyses. If a color persists after reassembly, contact our after-sales service.

🚰 For controlled use

Prefer drinking water from the network for daily use and follow the instructions for your system. These elements do not desalinate sea water. Do not confuse visually clear water with water whose health quality has been verified.

Le produit est conforme. Comme c'est vendu en France, la loi Toubon s'applique : la traduction de la documentation en Français devrait être fourni. Et pour préserver les arbres, pourquoi pas fournir un QR code qui mène aux versions dans différentes langues.
