A small sink, a faucet too low or no connection available? The Black Berkey Primer™ hand pump allows you to prepare your Black Berkey® filters from a container of clean water. The manufacturer also confirms its compatibility with the filters Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™.

💧 Priming a Black Berkey®
Priming replaces the air in the filter pores with water. With this pump, you can carry out this step without holding the filter against a faucet.
The bulb connects to the stem of the Black Berkey®. Place the element in a container of clean water, then activate the pump according to the diagram in the instructions.
🌬️ Purge a Black Berkey®
The purge feature pushes air into the Black Berkey® element to help expel water. The direction of the valves must be reversed for this operation, in accordance with its instructions.
Then let the filter finish drying in the open air. It must be completely dry before prolonged storage.
Also compatible with Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™
The manufacturer lists the Black Berkey Primer™ among the accessories compatible with this Phoenix range. Consult the Phoenix instructions for the preparation, maintenance and storage of your elements; the purge marks described above concern the Black Berkey®.
Some tips for using it correctly
- Identify the direction of the valves: for priming, the water must pass through the wall of the filter before exiting through its stem and the pump.
- Use clean water and a clean container to prepare the elements.
- Proceed filter by filter: the same pump is used successively for the elements of your system.
- When returning from storage: follow the Black Berkey® instructions for cleaning and repriming before returning to service.
🧼 Maintain the pump
Clean the accessory with lukewarm water and mild soap. Store it in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. Do not microwave it.

This sheet concerns the Black Berkey Primer™ PRIMER-BBP pump. For tap priming, the beige XXPB washer and PrimeRite™ nipple are separate accessories, with their own methods of use.
