🔎 The construction of your filter
Each Imperial AMB element combines a microporous ceramic envelope impregnated with silver to a block of compressed activated carbon combined with zeolite inside the filter.
Water passes through the ceramic, then the internal media. The exterior surface can be cleaned to remove deposits which slow down the flow, while keeping the filter in service within the limit of its useful life.
The reference to choose: AMB corresponds to the version with compressed activated carbon block. The GF version uses granular activated carbon. Each version has its own flow rate and capacity marks.
📏 Is your fountain suitable?
These refills are mounted in the adapted Monderma gravity fountains. For certain Berkey®, British Berkefeld® or ProOne® models, compatibility must be checked on the fountain concerned.
- Height available: allow the space necessary for an element approximately 17.8 cm high.
- Place in the tank: each element measures approximately 7 cm in diameter; also check the spacing of the fixing holes.
- Assembly: the rod, gasket and nut must suit the holes and the bottom of your tank.
If in doubt, tell us the exact model of your fountain before ordering. The external dimensions of the filter are not sufficient to confirm all compatibilities.
💧 AMB: understanding progressive filtration
AMB filters operate with progressive flow. The instructions indicate the following references after preparation of the two filters:

These times depend on water and fill; they do not correspond to a constant flow. The slowdown at the end of the cycle is expected when the upper tank empties.
The good reflex: prepare your water in advance. If the flow rate remains low with the upper tank full, check the preparation and condition of the ceramic, then carry out the cleaning provided for in the instructions.
🚰 First use, step by step
Plan to put it into service before your first day of use. The two filters are prepared together, by gravity.
- 1. Check the parts. Wash your hands, clean the bowls and check the ceramic for cracks.
- 2. Install the filters. Place the gasket against the base of each filter, inside the upper bowl. Pass the rod through the hole, then tighten the wing nut under the tank, by hand and without forcing. Close unused holes with suitable plugs.
- 3. Fill the water for the first time. Close the tap, fill the upper tank and let it filter. Discard any collected water.
- 4. Leave to rest overnight. Keep the filters installed and do not use the fountain during this break.
- 5. Rinse a second time. The next day, fill it up again and throw away the filtered water again. You can consume that of the following filling.
Never let water enter through the threaded rod: this preparation under pressure can damage the filter. Use the Imperial instructions corresponding to your version.
🧽 Maintaining the ceramic
When the flow slows, empty the upper tank and carefully remove the elements. Pass a clean soft brush over the ceramic, under cold water, then rinse and reassemble the filters.
No soap or detergent on the filters. Surface cleaning does not require repeating the two preparation fills and does not reset the duration of use. zero.
Clean the tanks and the tap separately according to the instructions for your fountain, with the filters removed.
📅 When to replace the filters?
Plan to replace the pair no later than 12 months after it is put into service. Note the installation date to follow this deadline.
The advertised capacity of 6,000 liters for two elements is indicative and varies depending on water and use. This volume does not allow use to be extended beyond the 12-month maintenance mark.
Replace the filters sooner if they are damaged or if their flow rate remains insufficient after cleaning, particularly when the upper tank is full.
☀️ Good daily actions
- Suitable water: use only cold drinking water from the network, without a pressure connection.
- Temperature: protect the filters from hot water, frost and temperatures below 4.5°C.
- After a prolonged absence: throw away the first filtered filling.
- At start-up: small particles of carbon may be evacuated; continue rinsing. If an unusual taste persists after preparation, contact us.

About TDS: this filtration does not demineralize the water. A TDS tester does not measure the effectiveness of the filter; the mineral materials of the ceramic can modify the value recorded.
