We draw your attention to the fact that counterfeit Berkey® products have been found on the market. Unscrupulous individuals or companies try to pass off their generic carbon block filters as authentic Berkey® products by putting them in boxes that they have tried to reproduce as authentic. We are investigating the source to take action against them. However, we need your vigilance and continued assistance in identifying anyone who may be selling counterfeit products.
The first generation of berkey holograms, now (obsolete).
Although counterfeit boxes look very similar to genuine boxes, there are a few simple signs to identify counterfeit products :
- The holograms used on counterfeit products also have a different appearance (see below).
- Counterfeit BB9-2 boxes use a different cardboard material which is thinner and has a finish shiny.
- The original cardboard containing the 2 filters is very thick, matte appearance

The second generation in use
Authentic Berkey® products currently all have holograms with a unique serial number printed above.
Third Generation Hologram
In the near future, we will begin phasing out the second generation NMCL hologram and replacing it with a new official third generation Berkey® Water Systems logo hologram (see example below). The third generation Berkey® Water Systems logo hologram features a new design along with even more advanced features to help consumers identify authentic Berkey® products.
In the event that you become aware of any counterfeit sellers or products, please contact us immediately with as much information as possible. NMCL intends to put an end to counterfeiters.
