In rare cases, water filtered with an FTO+ filter may have an earthy taste. This phenomenon is linked to a residual presence of activated carbon dust. According to the manufacturer Coldstream:
“It sometimes happens with the carbon if the sieve failed to do a good job by not separating the carbon dust fully. Not dangerous but annoying for all involved.”
👉 It is not a health hazard, but it remains unpleasant.
Since May 2025, Coldstream has improved its manufacturing process so that this type of incident only occurs exceptionally.
